[Birdbycatch] Highly Migratory Species Fishery Management Plan hearings

Greetings Everyone,

The Pacific Fishery Management Council will hold public hearings to receive 
public comment on the draft fishery management plan (FMP) for West Coast 
highly migratory species (HMS) fisheries.  Fishing gear types include: 
coastal purse seine, tropical Tuna Fishery using purse seine, 
pole-and-line, and pelagic longline, pelagic longline, drift gillnet, 
troll, handline, recreational, and harpoon, bait boat, etc.

A draft of the plan may be obtained at the address below.  They are 
available in either hard copy (paper) or electronic copy (PDF format on a 
CD).  It may also be viewed on the Council web site:

The public may also provide oral and written comments on the draft FMP 
during the March 2002 Council meeting, which will be held March 11-15, 2002 
at the Red Lion Sacramento Inn, 1401 Arden Way, Sacramento, California.  At 
that time the Council is scheduled to take final action on the HMS FMP, so 
it if you have comments, it would be good to get them to the council and 
team members well in advance. Council and HMS team members' contact
